Currently both a full-time Project coordinator at Bahcesehir University (BAU) School of Foreign Languages and a part-time teacher trainer at National Geographic Learning, I am a summa cum laude graduate of Middle East Technical University (METU) at the department of Foreign Language Education, and I also received a minor diploma of general management at the department of Business Administration.
I completed my MA degree at METU specializing in the integration of conflict management and effective communication skills into intensive language programs. Having taught English at various foundation universities in Turkey for several years, I started a PhD program as a Fulbright scholar in Second Language Acquisition and Teaching (SLAT) at the University of Arizona. I earned another MA degree in SLAT as a Fulbright scholar and I also hold a PhD degree in SLAT specializing in language learners’ use of technology and diffusion of innovation within the framework of user intention theories.
I have expertise in language pedagogy and educational technology. I currently work as a project coordinator at BAU School of Foreign Languages, and have efforts to integrate both synchronized and asynchronized use of technology into classroom practices. I also offer educational technology classes at BAU English Language Teaching department.
I started this blog site to share my experience with my colleagues and the ones interested in language teaching, technology, educational technology when I was studying for my Ph.D degree in the States, and I have been updating it with my recent studies, interests, and training sessions since then.
I lived in many cities such as Yozgat where I was born, Ankara where I had my BA and MA and also Tucson where I had my PhD degree. I have been living in Istanbul for several years, and I am married to Özge Seçkin Polat with a lovely daughter whose name is İdil Öge Polat.
